Pirovac (1467 inhabitants) - the center of the homonymous municipality and is located in
Sibenik-Knin county. Historical monuments in Pirovac are: the old city walls dating from the
16th century, and St. George's Church.
The Makirina bay has its mud, which is extremely rich in peloids with great possibilities for
the development of health tourism.
Places in the vicinity of Pirovac are Vrana lake (declared a natural park), which is rich in
freshwater fish and a large number of different types of birds in their natural habitat. Vrana
lake and it's marine surroundings are ideal destination for sports fishermen, and was among the
few places where it is possible to catch both freshwater and saltwater fish within a few hundred
yards.
Pirovac in its tourist industry has an extremely large number of apartments, restaurants with a
wide selection from our Dalmatian cuisine.
Places that gravitate are: Tisno (Garden Festival), Jezera, Betina, Murter, Vodice (10 km),
Sibenik (22 km) and Zadar (55 km) that, with all their hospitality and interesting tourist
attractions, are helping to also develop this destination.
Near Pirovac there are one other significant Nature Park (Telaščica) and two National Parks,
Krka and Kornati.
Pirovac has direct access to the highway that connects this tourist center with the rest of the
world. It's also connected by air through Zadar and Split airports.
